Aircraft Identification

Aircraft identification refers to the unique alphanumeric code assigned to an aircraft by the International civil aviation organization (ICAO) and used for air traffic control purposes. The code, also known as the registration or tail number, is displayed prominently on the aircraft's exterior and is used to identify the aircraft during flight, in radio communications, and in flight plans. The code consists of a country prefix followed by a unique registration number assigned by the country of registration. In addition to the ICAO code, many countries also assign a separate registration number for domestic use. Proper aircraft identification is essential for safe and efficient air traffic control.
