Control Surface
In aviation, a control surface is a movable surface on an aircraft that can change the aircraft's attitude, and thus its flight path. Control surfaces are used to control the aircraft in roll, pitch, and yaw. The primary control surfaces are the ailerons, elevator, and rudder. Ailerons are located on the trailing edge of the wing and are used to control the roll of the aircraft. Elevators are located on the horizontal stabilizer and are used to control the pitch of the aircraft. The rudder is located on the vertical stabilizer and is used to control the yaw of the aircraft. Secondary control surfaces include flaps and spoilers, which are used to increase lift and decrease drag during takeoff and landing.
