Night

Night refers to the period of time between sunset and sunrise. In aviation, night is defined as the time between the end of evening civil twilight and the beginning of morning civil twilight, as published in the American Air Almanac. During night operations, pilots must rely on instruments and lighting systems to navigate and maintain situational awareness. The FAA requires pilots to have specific training and experience to operate aircraft at night, including a minimum number of hours of night flight and experience with night takeoffs and landings. Additionally, aircraft must be equipped with specific lighting systems to ensure visibility and safety during night operations.
