Rate Of Descent

Rate of Descent (RoD) is the speed at which an aircraft descends vertically towards the ground. It is usually measured in feet per minute (fpm) or meters per minute (mpm). RoD is an important parameter in aviation as it is used to control the altitude of an aircraft during approach and landing. Pilots use RoD to maintain a safe and stable descent rate, which is critical for a safe landing. A high RoD can result in a hard landing or even a crash, while a low RoD can cause the aircraft to float and overshoot the runway. RoD is affected by various factors such as aircraft weight, speed, wind, and altitude.
