Auxiliary Power Unit
An Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) is a self-contained unit that provides power to an aircraft when the main engines are not running. It is typically located in the tail section of the aircraft and consists of a small turbine engine, generator, and other necessary components. The APU can provide power for various aircraft systems such as air conditioning, lighting, and avionics. It can also be used to start the main engines. The use of an APU can reduce the need for ground support equipment and can provide greater flexibility in aircraft operations.
