Bio-based Composite
Bio-based composite refers to a material made from a combination of natural fibers or particles, such as wood, flax, hemp, or kenaf, and a biodegradable polymer matrix, such as polylactic acid (PLA), polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHA), or starch-based polymers. These composites are increasingly being used in the aviation industry to replace traditional materials, such as aluminum and fiberglass, due to their lower weight, higher strength-to-weight ratio, and lower environmental impact. Bio-based composites can be used in various aircraft components, including interior panels, seat backs, overhead bins, and floor panels.
