Cargo Fleets

In the context of aviation, a cargo fleet refers to a group of cargo aircraft owned and operated by an airline or air freight company. These aircraft are specifically designed or converted for the transportation of goods rather than passengers. The cargo fleet can include a variety of aircraft types, depending on the nature and volume of the cargo to be transported. This can range from smaller turboprop aircraft for short-haul, regional deliveries to large, wide-body jets capable of carrying substantial loads over long distances. The configuration of a cargo aircraft differs significantly from passenger aircraft. The main deck, typically occupied by passenger seats, is instead used for cargo space, often equipped with large cargo doors for easy loading and unloading. The design and operation of cargo fleets are governed by specific regulations and standards to ensure the safety and efficiency of cargo transportation. These regulations cover aspects such as weight and balance calculations, cargo securing, hazardous materials handling, and aircraft maintenance.
