Explosive Detection Systems
Explosive Detection Systems (EDS) are security screening equipment used to detect explosive materials in checked baggage and cargo. EDS machines use various technologies such as X-ray, computed tomography (CT), and trace detection to identify potential threats. The machines generate images of the contents of the baggage or cargo, which are analyzed by trained operators. If a potential threat is detected, the baggage or cargo is further inspected or subjected to additional screening. EDS machines are an important component of aviation security, helping to prevent explosive devices from being smuggled onto aircraft.
