Second In Command

Second In Command (SIC) is a pilot who assists the captain or the pilot in command (PIC) in the operation of the aircraft during flight. The SIC is responsible for monitoring the instruments, communicating with air traffic control, and performing other duties as assigned by the PIC. In the event of an emergency, the SIC is trained to take over the controls and safely land the aircraft. The SIC must hold a commercial pilot's license and have the necessary qualifications and experience to operate the specific type of aircraft being flown.
