Sonar

In the context of aviation, Sonar, an acronym for Sound Navigation and Ranging, is a system that uses sound propagation to navigate, communicate with, or detect objects on or under the surface of the water, such as other aircraft or submarines. While sonar is more commonly associated with marine applications, it also has significant uses in aviation, particularly in aircraft designed for maritime patrol and anti-submarine warfare.
