Aircraft Marshalling
Aircraft marshalling is the visual signalling between ground personnel and pilots on an aircraft operating area. It is used to direct the movement of aircraft on the ground, particularly in crowded airport ramp areas. Marshalling is necessary because pilots have limited visibility from the cockpit and must rely on ground personnel for guidance. Marshalling signals are standardized and include hand signals, illuminated wands, and coloured flags. The marshaller must have a clear view of the aircraft and the surrounding area, and must be trained to communicate effectively with the pilot. Safety is of utmost importance during aircraft marshalling, as the marshaller is in close proximity to the aircraft and must be aware of potential hazards.
