Anti-icing Fluids
Anti-icing fluids are specially formulated liquids that are applied on the surface of an aircraft to prevent the formation or adhesion of ice. These fluids work by lowering the freezing point of water and preventing the accumulation of ice on critical surfaces such as wings, tail, and engine in cold weather conditions. Anti-icing fluids are classified into four types based on their composition and holdover time: Type I, Type II, Type III, and Type IV. Type I fluids are used for short holdover times, while Type IV fluids are used for longer holdover times. The application of anti-icing fluids is critical for safe aircraft operations in cold weather conditions.
