Automated Weather Observation System
Automated Weather Observation System (AWOS) is a ground-based automated system that provides pilots with real-time weather information. AWOS sensors measure various weather parameters such as wind speed and direction, temperature, dew point, visibility, and cloud height. The system then processes this data and broadcasts it to pilots through a radio frequency or telephone line. AWOS is an important tool for pilots as it helps them make informed decisions about flight planning and safety. It also helps air traffic controllers to manage air traffic more efficiently by providing them with accurate and up-to-date weather information.
