Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a life-saving technique used in emergency situations to restore breathing and circulation in a person who has suffered cardiac arrest. In aviation, CPR is an essential skill for flight attendants and pilots to have, as they may be the first responders in the event of a medical emergency on board an aircraft. CPR involves a combination of chest compressions and rescue breaths, and must be performed correctly and promptly to increase the chances of survival. Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are also commonly found on board commercial aircraft and can be used in conjunction with CPR to help restore a normal heart rhythm.
