Civil Twilight
Civil Twilight is the period of time after sunset or before sunrise when the sun is just below the horizon, and there is still enough natural light to carry out most outdoor activities without the need for artificial lighting. In aviation, civil twilight is important because it marks the end of the day's VFR (Visual Flight Rules) operations and the beginning of night-time IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) operations. During civil twilight, pilots are required to turn on their aircraft lights and use them until sunrise or after sunset. This is to ensure that the aircraft is visible to other pilots and air traffic control. Civil twilight is also used to determine the start and end of the airport's curfew period.
