Corrosion resistance is the ability of a material to withstand degradation or deterioration caused by chemical reactions with its environment. In aviation, corrosion resistance is a critical factor in the design and maintenance of aircraft. The harsh operating environment of aircraft, including exposure to saltwater, high humidity, and extreme temperatures, can cause corrosion to occur on metal components. Corrosion can weaken the structural integrity of an aircraft and compromise its safety. Therefore, aircraft manufacturers use corrosion-resistant materials and coatings, and maintenance personnel regularly inspect and treat aircraft components to prevent corrosion.
