Defect Management

Defect Management in aviation refers to the process of identifying, documenting, tracking, resolving and reporting defects or discrepancies found in aircraft, components, systems or processes. Defects can be identified through various means such as inspections, audits, maintenance checks, flight crew reports, or customer complaints. Once a defect is identified, it is documented and tracked through a defect management system, which assigns responsibility for resolution and tracks progress until the defect is resolved. Defect management is critical to ensuring the safety and airworthiness of aircraft, as well as maintaining compliance with regulatory requirements.
