EMI Shielding
EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) Shielding is the process of reducing the electromagnetic field in a space by blocking the field with barriers made of conductive or magnetic materials. In aviation, EMI shielding is used to protect electronic equipment and systems from interference caused by external electromagnetic fields. This interference can cause malfunctions or complete failure of the equipment, which can be dangerous in flight. EMI shielding is achieved by using materials such as copper, aluminum, or steel to create a conductive barrier around the equipment. The shielding must be designed and installed carefully to ensure that it does not interfere with the operation of the equipment it is protecting.
