Sulfur Content
Sulfur content refers to the amount of sulfur present in aviation fuel. The sulfur content of fuel is an important factor in aviation as it affects the environmental impact of aircraft emissions. High sulfur content in fuel leads to the release of sulfur dioxide (SO2) and other harmful pollutants into the atmosphere, contributing to air pollution and acid rain. To reduce the environmental impact of aviation, regulations have been put in place to limit the sulfur content of aviation fuel. The current standard for sulfur content in aviation fuel is 0.5% by weight. This limit is expected to be further reduced in the future.
