FOD Prevention
FOD (Foreign Object Debris/Damage) Prevention is the process of eliminating or reducing the potential hazards caused by foreign objects on airport surfaces, runways, taxiways, aprons, and aircraft movement areas. FOD can cause damage to aircraft, injure personnel, and lead to costly delays. FOD prevention programs include regular inspections, maintenance, and cleaning of airport surfaces, as well as training for airport personnel and pilots to identify and report FOD. Additionally, FOD prevention requires the use of specialized equipment such as FOD sweepers, vacuums, and magnets to remove debris from airport surfaces.
