Fuel-to-air Ratio

Fuel-to-air ratio is the ratio of the mass of fuel to the mass of air in the mixture supplied to an engine. In aviation, this ratio is critical for the efficient and safe operation of aircraft engines. The fuel-to-air ratio must be carefully controlled to ensure complete combustion of the fuel and to prevent engine damage. If the ratio is too high, there will be insufficient air to burn all the fuel, resulting in incomplete combustion and the production of harmful pollutants. If the ratio is too low, there will be excess air, which can cause the engine to run too hot and potentially damage the engine components. The fuel-to-air ratio is typically controlled by the engine's fuel control system, which adjusts the fuel flow to maintain the desired ratio.
