Gust Load

Gust Load refers to the sudden change in wind speed and direction that causes additional stress on an aircraft. Gust loads are a significant factor in the design and testing of aircraft structures, as they can cause structural damage or failure if not properly accounted for. The maximum gust load that an aircraft can withstand is determined during the certification process, and is typically expressed as a maximum load factor. Pilots must also be aware of gust loads during flight, and take appropriate measures to avoid or mitigate their effects.
