Gyroplanes

Gyroplanes, also known as autogyros, are rotary-wing aircraft that are similar to helicopters but operate on a different principle. The rotor blades of a gyroplane are not powered by an engine, but instead are rotated by the air flowing through them as the aircraft moves forward. The engine powers a propeller that provides forward thrust, which in turn causes the rotor blades to spin. This spinning motion generates lift, allowing the gyroplane to take off and fly. Unlike helicopters, gyroplanes cannot hover in place, but they are capable of short takeoffs and landings and can fly at relatively low speeds. They are often used for recreational flying and aerial observation.
