Interline Agreement

In the context of aviation, an Interline Agreement refers to a voluntary commercial agreement between different airlines to handle passengers traveling on itineraries that require multiple airlines. These agreements allow airlines to expand their network and offer passengers seamless travel from the start to the end of their journey, even when their trip involves a transfer from one airline to another. The benefits of an Interline Agreement include the ability for passengers to purchase one ticket for a trip that involves multiple airlines, the ability to check luggage through to the final destination regardless of the airline, and the assurance that if a flight on one airline is delayed, the passenger will be re-accommodated on the next available flight of the other airline. Interline Agreements are essential for the smooth operation of the global air travel system, facilitating cooperation and coordination between airlines and enhancing the overall passenger experience.
