The International Air transport Association (IATA) is a trade association of the world's airlines founded in 1945. IATA supports airline activity and helps formulate industry policy and standards. It is headquartered in Montreal, Canada, with Executive Offices in Geneva, Switzerland. IATA's primary purpose is to promote safe, regular and economical air transport for the benefit of the people of the world. It provides essential professional support to all industry stakeholders with a wide range of products and expert services, such as publications, training and consulting. IATA's financial systems also help airlines and the air transport industry maximize efficiency. IATA's mission is to represent, lead, and serve the airline industry. Its members include major passenger and cargo airlines worldwide. IATA also manages the airline coding system, including the IATA airport code and the IATA airline code.
