Laminar Flow Control
Laminar Flow Control (LFC) is a technology used in aviation to reduce drag and improve fuel efficiency. It involves the use of suction to remove the turbulent boundary layer that forms on the surface of an aircraft wing during flight. By removing this layer, the airflow over the wing can remain smooth and laminar, reducing drag and improving the wing's aerodynamic performance. LFC systems can be passive or active, with active systems using sensors and control systems to adjust the suction as needed. Laminar flow control has the potential to significantly reduce fuel consumption and emissions in commercial aviation.
