Masks
In aviation, masks refer to the oxygen masks that are provided to passengers and crew in case of cabin depressurization. In the event of a sudden loss of cabin pressure, masks will drop down from the overhead compartments. Passengers and crew must immediately put on their masks and breathe normally. This is because at high altitudes, the air pressure is too low to sustain human life without supplemental oxygen. The masks are connected to a central oxygen supply and provide oxygen to the wearer for a limited amount of time, typically 15-20 minutes. It is important to follow the instructions provided by the crew and keep the mask on until advised to remove it.
