Minimum Equipment List

Minimum Equipment List (MEL) is a document developed by the operator which identifies the aircraft equipment that may be inoperative and the conditions under which the aircraft may be operated with that equipment inoperative. The MEL is approved by the aviation authority and is specific to each aircraft type. The MEL is designed to ensure that the aircraft can be operated safely with certain equipment inoperative, while maintaining an acceptable level of safety. The MEL is a dynamic document that is updated regularly to reflect changes in regulations, equipment, and operating procedures.
