Navigation Satellite System
A Navigation Satellite System (NSS) is a constellation of satellites that provide autonomous geo-spatial positioning with global coverage. NSS is used for navigation, timing, and other location-based services. The most well-known NSS is the Global Positioning System (GPS), which is operated by the United States government. Other examples of NSS include the Russian GLONASS, the European Galileo, and the Chinese BeiDou. NSS works by transmitting signals from satellites to receivers on the ground, which then use the information to determine the receiver's location. This technology has revolutionized aviation by providing accurate and reliable navigation information to pilots and air traffic controllers.
