Pure-tone Audiometry Test

Pure-tone audiometry is a hearing test that measures a person's ability to hear different sounds, pitches, and frequencies. The test is conducted in a soundproof room using headphones and a machine called an audiometer. The audiometer produces sounds at different frequencies and volumes, and the person taking the test indicates when they can hear the sound by pressing a button or raising their hand. The results of the test are plotted on an audiogram, which shows the softest sounds a person can hear at different frequencies. Pure-tone audiometry is used to diagnose hearing loss and determine the type and severity of the loss.
