Radio Beacons

Radio beacons are ground-based radio transmitters that emit signals used for navigation by aircraft. These signals can be used to determine the aircraft's position, direction, and distance from the beacon. There are different types of radio beacons, including non-directional beacons (NDBs), which transmit a signal in all directions, and very high frequency omnidirectional range (VOR) beacons, which transmit a signal in a specific direction. Radio beacons are an important component of the air navigation system and are used by pilots to navigate during flight, especially in areas where other navigation aids may not be available.
