RNAV Navigation

RNAV (Area Navigation) is a method of navigation that allows an aircraft to fly on any desired flight path within the coverage of ground- or space-based navigation aids or within the limits of the capability of self-contained aids, or a combination of these. RNAV systems are capable of providing lateral and longitudinal guidance without reliance on ground-based navigation aids by using GPS or other navigation sensors. RNAV navigation provides greater flexibility and efficiency in flight planning and execution, allowing for more direct routes and improved fuel efficiency. It also enhances safety by reducing the risk of controlled flight into terrain and improving situational awareness.
