Russian Orbital Segment

The Russian Orbital Segment (ROS) is a section of the International Space Station (ISS) constructed and operated by Russia. It is a key component of the ISS, providing essential living and working space, as well as the propulsion and guidance systems necessary for the station's operation. The ROS consists of several modules, including the Zarya and Zvezda modules, which were the first two components of the ISS launched into space. The ROS also includes the Pirs, Poisk, and Rassvet modules, which serve as docking ports for Russian spacecraft. The ROS is equipped with its own life support systems, power supply, and communication systems, allowing it to function independently if necessary. It also houses the station's main engines, which are used for major maneuvers and to maintain the ISS's orbit. The ROS is maintained and operated by the Russian space agency, Roscosmos.
