Sailplanes
Sailplanes, also known as gliders, are aircraft that are designed to fly without an engine. They are launched into the air by a variety of methods, including being towed by a powered aircraft, winched into the air by a ground-based winch, or launched from a hill or mountain using the natural updrafts created by the wind. Once in the air, sailplanes use the energy of the surrounding air to stay aloft, and can remain in the air for hours at a time. Sailplanes are used for a variety of purposes, including recreational flying, competition, and scientific research.
