Taxiway Classification

Taxiway Classification refers to the categorization of taxiways based on their design characteristics and intended use. The classification system is used to ensure safe and efficient movement of aircraft on the ground. The criteria for classification include the width and strength of the taxiway pavement, the angle of intersection with other taxiways and runways, and the maximum aircraft size and weight that can be accommodated. The different categories of taxiways are designated by letters, with the highest category being A and the lowest being F. Category A taxiways are designed to accommodate the largest and heaviest aircraft, while Category F taxiways are intended for use by smaller aircraft such as general aviation planes.
