Turbine Inlet Temperature

Turbine Inlet Temperature (TIT) is the temperature of the air entering the turbine section of a gas turbine engine. It is a critical parameter that affects the performance and durability of the engine. The TIT is measured using thermocouples located at the inlet of the turbine. The maximum allowable TIT is determined by the engine manufacturer and is usually limited by the melting point of the turbine blades. Exceeding the maximum TIT can cause the blades to melt, leading to engine failure. TIT is also used to calculate the specific fuel consumption of the engine, which is a measure of the engine's efficiency.
