3-letter Codes
In aviation, 3-letter codes are used to identify airports, airlines, and aircraft. The International Air transport Association (IATA) assigns unique 3-letter codes to airports and airlines, while the International civil aviation organization (ICAO) assigns 4-letter codes to airports and 3-letter codes to aircraft. These codes are used for various purposes such as flight planning, ticketing, baggage handling, and communication between pilots and air traffic controllers. The codes are designed to be easily recognizable and memorable, and they help to avoid confusion and errors in the aviation industry.
