Alcohol refers to any alcoholic beverage that contains ethyl alcohol, also known as ethanol. In aviation, alcohol is strictly regulated due to its potential to impair cognitive and motor functions. Pilots are prohibited from consuming alcohol within 8 hours of a flight, and are not allowed to fly with a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.04% or higher. Additionally, aviation personnel such as air traffic controllers and aircraft maintenance technicians are also subject to alcohol testing. The use of alcohol can have serious consequences in aviation, including accidents, injuries, and fatalities.
