Anti-wear Agents
Anti-wear agents are chemical compounds added to lubricants to reduce wear of surfaces in contact under load. In aviation, anti-wear agents are commonly used in jet engine oils to protect engine components from wear and corrosion. These agents form a protective film on the surface of the metal, reducing friction and preventing metal-to-metal contact. This helps to extend the life of engine components and reduce maintenance costs. Anti-wear agents are also used in hydraulic fluids to protect pumps, valves, and other components from wear and damage.
