Bias

In aviation, bias refers to the tendency of an instrument or system to consistently indicate a value that is different from the true value. This can be caused by a variety of factors, such as calibration errors, environmental conditions, or design flaws. Bias can have serious consequences in aviation, as it can lead to incorrect readings and decisions by pilots and air traffic controllers. To mitigate the effects of bias, instruments and systems are regularly calibrated and tested, and multiple sources of information are used to cross-check readings. Additionally, pilots and controllers are trained to recognize and account for bias in their decision-making processes.
