Close Air Support
Close Air Support (CAS) is a military air operation that provides direct support to ground forces in close proximity to enemy forces. The primary objective of CAS is to assist ground troops by delivering precise and effective firepower against enemy targets, while minimizing the risk of friendly fire and collateral damage. CAS aircraft can include fixed-wing aircraft, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), and they typically operate at low altitudes and speeds to accurately engage targets. CAS missions require close coordination between ground forces and aircrews, and pilots must be highly skilled in identifying and engaging targets in complex and rapidly changing battlefield environments.
