Altitudes
Altitude is the vertical distance of a point in the atmosphere above or below a reference point, usually the mean sea level. In aviation, altitude is an important concept as it is used to determine the height of an aircraft above the ground or sea level. There are different types of altitudes used in aviation such as indicated altitude, true altitude, absolute altitude, and pressure altitude. Indicated altitude is the altitude shown on the altimeter, while true altitude is the actual height of an aircraft above mean sea level. Absolute altitude is the height of an aircraft above the terrain, and pressure altitude is the altitude indicated when the altimeter setting is adjusted to the standard atmospheric pressure at sea level.
