Code-sharing Agreement
A code-sharing agreement is a business arrangement between two airlines where one airline puts its two-letter identification code on a flight operated by the other airline, allowing the first airline to sell tickets for that flight as if it were its own. This allows airlines to expand their network and offer more destinations to their customers without having to operate the flights themselves. Code-sharing agreements can also help airlines reduce costs by sharing operational expenses and increasing efficiency. Passengers benefit from code-sharing agreements by having access to more destinations and flight options, as well as the ability to earn and redeem frequent flyer miles on both airlines.
