Electromagnetic Compatibility
Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) refers to the ability of electronic equipment to function properly in the presence of electromagnetic interference (EMI). In aviation, EMC is critical to ensure that aircraft systems are not affected by external sources of electromagnetic radiation, such as radio and radar transmissions, lightning strikes, and solar flares. EMC testing is conducted to ensure that aircraft systems comply with regulatory standards and are not susceptible to interference that could compromise safety. EMC considerations are also important in the design and installation of avionics equipment, as well as in the selection of materials and components that can withstand electromagnetic radiation.
