Fire Extinguishing Agents

Fire extinguishing agents are substances that are used to control, suppress, or extinguish fires. In aviation, fire extinguishing agents are used to combat fires that may occur on board an aircraft or at an airport. These agents can be classified into several categories, including water, foam, dry chemical, carbon dioxide, and halon. Water is the most commonly used agent and is effective in extinguishing fires involving ordinary combustibles such as paper, wood, and cloth. Foam is used to extinguish fires involving flammable liquids and gases. Dry chemical agents are effective in extinguishing fires involving flammable liquids, gases, and electrical equipment. Carbon dioxide is used to extinguish fires involving electrical equipment and flammable liquids. Halon is a clean agent that is effective in extinguishing fires involving electrical equipment and flammable liquids, but it is no longer used due to its harmful effects on the environment.
