Flight Duty Period
Flight Duty period (FDP) is the period of time between reporting for a flight or other duty and release from that duty, during which the flight crew member is required to be on duty. The FDP includes all pre-flight and post-flight duties, such as flight planning, pre-flight briefing, aircraft preparation, and post-flight duties. The purpose of FDP regulations is to ensure that flight crew members are sufficiently rested and alert to safely perform their duties. FDP limits vary depending on the type of operation, time of day, and number of flight segments. FDP regulations are an important aspect of aviation safety management.
