Fuel Tankering

Fuel tankering is the practice of carrying extra fuel on an aircraft that is not required for the planned flight. This is done to take advantage of lower fuel prices at the departure airport or to avoid higher fuel prices at the destination airport. While it may seem like a cost-saving measure, fuel tankering can actually increase fuel consumption and emissions due to the extra weight carried by the aircraft. It can also lead to safety concerns if the aircraft is carrying more fuel than necessary. Airlines must carefully weigh the potential cost savings against the environmental impact and safety risks before deciding to engage in fuel tankering.
