Head-Down Displays

Head-Down Displays (HDD) are electronic displays that provide pilots with critical flight information such as altitude, airspeed, heading, and navigation data. These displays are located in the cockpit and require the pilot to look down to view the information. HDDs have replaced traditional analog gauges and have become a standard feature in modern aircraft. They improve situational awareness and reduce pilot workload by consolidating multiple sources of information into one display. Additionally, HDDs can be customized to display information in a way that is most useful to the pilot, such as using different colors or fonts to highlight important data.
