Holding Positions

Holding positions are designated areas on the taxiway where aircraft must stop and hold in order to maintain safe separation from other aircraft or vehicles. These positions are typically marked with yellow lines and signs, and are located at various points along the taxiway, such as at runway entrances, intersections, and other critical areas. Pilots must receive clearance from air traffic control before crossing a holding position, and must hold short of the position until instructed to proceed. Holding positions are an important safety feature that help prevent runway incursions and other ground accidents.
