Situational awareness is the perception of environmental elements and events with respect to time or space, the comprehension of their meaning, and the projection of their future status. In aviation, situational awareness is the ability of a pilot to understand and anticipate the current and future state of their aircraft, the airspace around them, and any potential hazards or threats. This includes monitoring weather conditions, air traffic control communications, and the performance of the aircraft itself. Maintaining situational awareness is critical to safe and effective flight operations.
